the funky factoria joven, youth factory, is a skate park in merida, spain. energetic teens are biking, skating, climbing on and around the undulating curves and brightly-colored structures of the inviting and inventive complex, designed by madrid-based josé selgas and lucìa cano architects. their insipiration came from the forms and construction of chinese dragons, and specified inexpensive building materials, including lightweight polycarbonate. in addition to the outdoor features, the building houses a computer lab and a dance studio, as well as meeting rooms and spaces used for for street theater, video and electronic music, and even graffiti

back in the 1950s and 60s, architect gerrit rietveld and his contemporaries made quite a stir in the quite village of bergeyk, near eindhoven. the distinctive architecture of bergeyk still reflects the glory days of dutch functionalism. last year studio job bought one of the local suburban villas designed by the architect  d.l. sterenberg. the house was in need of thorough renovation. studio job aimed to maintain the character and authentic design of the property and to restore it to its original glory according to today’s standards. studio job house will be an open house, a fresh platform for art and design
